A Comparison Between (the latest in technology) CDs And DVDs

By Victor Epand

CDs, also known as Compact Discs, are a simpler version of recording data and storing them whereas DVD is a complex form of the same. It is a kind of disk with a larger storage capacity and higher speed. It can store all kinds of films and computer data. The two are easily available in market at low prices. They are affordable to everyone today.

A number of differences set them apart. The first of them is the configuration of the disc. They are configured differently as a CD has fewer complications than a DVD. The most important is in respect to storage space. The CD has lesser amount of storage capacity as compared to a DVD. They are less reliable than DVDs. The movie watched at one go in a DVD can be recorded only in two to three CDs at a time.

The CD can be played in any first grade player but DVD needs a higher version of player. A DVD player can play a CD too. A computer can play normal CD but it cannot play a DVD directly. It needs a DVD ROM to play it. There are different technical processes to handle them.

The cost of a CD is quite different from that of a DVD. The CD is available at a much lesser price than a DVD. They are available anywhere in the market today and even a stationery shop has a variety of them. There are a lot of brands with different prices.

DVD can be used at a specific place only. The CD can be made a multisession disc but a DVD is not used for the same purpose. DVD can be used to store a movie but generally not for minor works of office assistance. The CD can be viewed in DVD ROM but a DVD cannot be viewed without the same. The same is true for a DVD writer where a CD can be viewed as well as written.

Nowadays a CD is preferred for file work. That is for better and long duration as well as for convenience of storing. But for other purposes a DVD is far better. The reason for this is the number of sector tracks. The tracks are more in a DVD than in a CD. This is the main reason for differentiation between the two. The sound quality and picture in the two also have great variation. The DVD has these things in digital quality while a CD does not have any such features. The digital versions make the view clearer and more attractive. So we can say that a DVD is more entertaining than a DVD.

So you have seen the major differences between the two. They have their different uses at different places of work and their areas of work are quite different from each other as well.

Three Robots To Keep Your Kids Busy
By Shaun Parker

We all love gadgets but when you control the purse strings you’ve got even more control over influencing your little ones. Children love all things Robot and it is a delight to watch the expressions of wonderment sweep across their stary eyed faces as the robot performs the many fold functions, then the screaming when it breaks after three minutes.

This article is a guide to avoid the aforementioned scene. i-SOBOT from Tomy is the smallest mass produced bipedal humanoid robot in the world and measures only 16cm and weighs in at 300 grams. The robot will come with 4 modes from performing fun and quirky scenes from western battes to playing air guitar. You will be able to control the robot either via a remote control, or up to 10 voice commands.

If that was not enough i-SOBOT has around 200 spoken phrases, including I do not understand and can do special moves like Yoga or get up when it falls over. Priced at 199.99 GBP the robot will be landing on UK shores in 2009. The U-Command WALL-E is a remote control robot that can be programmed with thousands of different movement combinations and will cost 39.99 GBP.

With the ability to perform 360 degree turns, move in every direction and do a figure of eight, the poseable robot figure also features light-up eyes, real moving treads and speech functionality. For 20 GBP, the iDance WALL-E dances in a funky, bio-robotic style to any music source. After waiting for over 3 years, Pleo the Robotic Cam Camarasaurus Dinosaur from the co-creator of the Furby has finally launched in the UK.

The one-week old infant Camarasaurus from the late Jurassic period created by UGOBE pronounced You Go Be is an autonomous Life Form that advances through life stages and develops a unique personality through user interaction. Like Aibo from Sony, if you treat him well and he will become friendly and outgoing, treat him badly and he will become timid or angry.

As with most autonomous robots, Pleo wants to explore his environment and learn as he grows. Capable of actual emotions including joy, aggression, sorrow and fear, Pleo can also yawn, sigh, sniff, sniffle, snore, cough, hiccup and sneeze. Initially cautious, Pleo will walk around slowly to absorb his surroundings but may cry when frightened or scared. He will stretch when waking up and he may even stomp his foot if he gets angry. He will cost 200 GBP.

Plasma TV Prices - Keep An Eye Out As They Fall Like a Rock
By Corbin Newlyn

The initial plasma television to hit the consumer market was the 42 inch version, having a nice beefy price tag of roughly $12,000. At the time the technology was still very new an on the cutting edge and while LCD TV sets have been giving flat screen, enhanced color television pictures for many years, they were still limited in their size to about 32 inches. When other producers started to getting into the competition for a share of this up and coming market of plasma TV’s, then prices started to decline.

It is quite normal to see any type of newer technology that is first introduced to be priced very high, while the manufacturer is hoping to quickly get back some of it’s development costs and by being the first to the market with a new technological toy for the grown ups and kids alike, they have the ability to make up a good amount of their initial investment. Nevertheless, the manufactures of LCD’s were not just staying idle when watching the plasma TV prices end up at the higher end of the technology charts.

As manufactures of LCD monitors, who at the time held a very tight reign on the smaller television and computer monitor market started to develop improved manufacturing technologies giving them the ability of making larger monitors, plasma TV prices began to drop even quicker, in part due to added competition and also because of less expensive manufacturing methods.

Not Every Plasma Is Created Equal

Even in the face of falling prices for TV’s, you will still find some inequality within the plasma TV market itself. Consumers might also end up confused when they notice a big difference between two major plasma TV prices, in the belief that all plasma television sets are high definition. Primarily this is not the situation and the difference can be substantial which is dependent on the quality of the manufacturer.

You will find that there are in reality two technologies that are used in the resolution of plasma televisions, one kind is the true high definition and the other is what is known as enhanced definition.

For the individuals that have a plasma television which is enhanced definition, the quality of the picture likely will not be noticeable when viewing broadcasts that are not in a format that is high definition. What they will notice is a big difference in the plasma TV prices for those particular units.

High definition, which is defined in the industry as having a height of 720 pixels in width, might also result in a difference in plasma TV prices for those that have a width of 1040 up to 1365 pixels. The bigger monitors will typically have a wider count in pixels for a true high definition resolution reception of broadcasts that are high definition.

While images that are high definition on a monitor that that are broadcast in high definition are noticeably better, a monitor that is high definition cannot make an image of lesser quality look any better. Even with prices being higher on plasma TV’s on some units, provided that the unit is sub-par, so will be the picture of quality.
